Floy Aleta Zeigler Richmond  (b.   28 Aug 1897, d.  18 Aug 2004)

Floy was born on August 28, 1897 in  Buckhorn, Prairieton Township near Blue Mound,  Christian Co, Illinois.  She was the daughter of Louis Zeigler and Carrie (Lockwood) Zeigler. She had a younger sister Lucille who would later marry Jim Frisina of Taylorville.

Growing up in Prairieton, Floy attended the Buckhorn country school to grade 8.  As she attended Taylorville High School  she would live with her grandparents and graduated in 19XX.

She married LeVoy Richmond  on May 11, 1918  in Taylorville, Christian Co. , Illinois.   LeVoy  was the son of Harry Richmond and Maude (Shaver) Richmond.   They were married by ___  at ___ .  For their honeymoon, they travelled to Detroit where they picked up a new car and drove it back to the dealership that LeVoy worked.

After his marriage LeVoy would open his own business in Taylorville known as Richmond Motors, which was a Nash automobile dealership.  Floy and LeVoy built their home in 1928 at 106 Richmond Avenue which included a garage, a stable and pasture in the back. With their two daughters, they raised ponies and showed the ponies at county, state, national and international horse shows.

After World War II, he went on to manage the War Surplus operation first in Illiopolis, Illinois and then in Des Moines, Iowa.  They retained their Taylorville home, but he and Floy resided in an apartment in Des Moines from  194? - 194?  Once that project was complete, they returned to their home at 106 Richmond Avenue in the Country Club addition of Taylorville and he opened a boat dealership and a farm implement dealership.  Floy was raised as a Methodist and was also an active member of the Presbyterian Church in Taylorville.

After her husband LeVoy passed away on December 4, 1960 in Taylorville at the age of 63, Floy continued to reside at her home for the rest of her life.  She collected antiques, traveled, enjoyed baking, gardening and playing cards with friends.  Her bridge club played together for over 50 years.

She passed away at the age of 106 and she was buried in Oak Hill Cemetery in Taylorville, Illinois.  Her obituary was published on ___   in the Breeze Courier Newspaper of Taylorville.
